Peat bog fires to be extinguished, but not rapidly - State Emergency Service

The extinguishing of smoldering peat bog fires is a long and very difficult process; moreover, dry weather doesn’t favor this.
Viktoria Ruban, a Kiev representative of the State Emergency Service, said on the 112 Ukraine TV Channel, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“At present, all seats of smoldering have been contained. The extinguishing of peat bog fires is a very complicated process; this is no the process of one day. And currently the weather is dry, the ground is dry, the vegetation is dry,” Ruban said.
She recalled that the extinguishing of 24 smoldering peat bog fires on the territory of about 112 ha was conducted in 11 districts of Kyiv region.
