Russian drone attack on police checkpoint in Kherson region leaves one dead

Senior police lieutenant Oleksandr Chekhun was killed in a Russian drone attack at a checkpoint in the Kherson region.

According to Ukrinform, the National Police reported this on Facebook.

"As a result of the Russian drone attack, an inspector of the patrol police response sector of Kherson police department No.1, a senior police lieutenant, was seriously injured and died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital," the statement said.

The police noted that Chekhun started his service in 2007 at the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Kherson region. He served in various units, including the Kherson Special Police Patrol Service Battalion and the Special Police Battalion.

As reported by Ukrinform, over the past day, Russian invaders attacked 17 settlements in the Kherson region, killing one person and injuring four others.
