Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak has met with the delegation of the US Congress in Kyiv.

"The parties discussed the security situation in Ukraine and the world, the growing scale of threats from the Russian Federation, as well as the topical issues of further bilateral defense cooperation between Ukraine and the United States," the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reports.

As noted, Stepan Poltorak informed the delegation members about the preliminary results and prospects of the defense reforms. He also underscored the importance of the assistance, which Ukraine receives from its strategic partners, including the United States of America.

"As the military aggression of the Kremlin continues to affect the national economy and claim the lives of Ukrainians, we need the support of both chambers of the US Congress for the continuation of the successful sanctions policy against the aggressor state. I want to express gratitude to the members of the two chambers of the US Congress, the US Government, the American people for their consistent political, financial, advisory and logistical support for Ukraine," the press service quotes minister Poltorak as saying.

In turn, the representatives of the US Congress assured the Ukrainian side of the continued support for Ukraine in its struggle for territorial integrity, independence, and aspirations for further Euro-Atlantic integration.

Senator Mike Crapo, the head of the American delegation, highlighted the importance of the concerted efforts for creating a stable security environment in the region and the further support for Ukraine.

As reported, on March 20, three U.S. senators and two U.S. Congress members arrived in Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian high-ranking officials and discuss the U.S.-Ukraine partnership.
