EU becomes major trading partner of Ukraine
This is stated in the summary of illustrated foreign trade data for the past year, which was made public by the State Customs Service of Ukraine on January 16.
According to the service, in 2013, the largest trading partner of Ukraine was the group of the CIS countries, accounting for 36%. The following were the EU countries - 31%, and the Asian countries - 23%. However, in 2014 the turnover of Ukraine redistributed. EU countries took the first place - 35.5%, the CIS countries took the second - 29% and Asia took the third - 24%.
The report of the Customs Service reads that the exports from Ukraine in 2014 amounted to UAH 54.2 billion, showing a decline of 14% if compared to 2013.
Against the background of the overall decrease in the volume of trade, year 2014 showed a growth of Ukrainian exports to the EU by 2%.
The growth in the supply of Ukrainian goods was registered in almost all the EU countries. The leaders are the Netherlands - 7%, Italy - 5%, Poland - 4%, Germany - 1%, other countries - 2%. The decrease in volume of Ukrainian exports was noticed only in France and Hungary.
According to the Ukraine's customs service, the most important factor of decline in exports is combat operations in eastern Ukraine.
