Yatsenyuk: Ukraine goes to court over construction of Nord Stream 2
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a meeting with Slovakian Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Laichak in Kyiv on Monday, February 1, an Ukrinform correspondent report.
“I would like to inform that Ukraine has filed a suit in court regarding the construction of Nord Stream 2. We consider it a political project. We are calling on the European Commission to start an investigation and stop anti-European, anti-Ukrainian, ant-Slovak, anti-Polish project,” Yatsenyuk said.
The premier also stressed that Ukraine wants to build a transparent gas European market.
“That’s why we are sending a strong signal to our European partners and the whole European society that this project should be not only reconsidered, but also rejected,” Yatsenyuk said.
Laichak, in turn, said that “Nord Stream 2 is a political project, reasons for which I don’t see”.
He stressed that a court’s ruling on this issue would have a huge importance.
“Nord Stream 2 is a project aimed against Ukraine, and the European Union is coming closer to the diversification of energy, and thus, we are on the same way with you, that’s why let’s keep fighting together,” Laichak said.
