Ukraine can count on Canada's long-term assistance in reforming the National Police.

Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine Larisa Galadza said this during the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30. National Security”, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The ambassador noted that Canada, together with other international partners, had played a significant role in reforming Ukraine's National Police.

“We welcome the achievements of the last six years, but recognize that many challenges still remain… Police chiefs need to continue their efforts to increase accountability, maintain citizens' trust, and enhance public safety. You can count on Canada's long-term assistance in achieving these goals,” Galadza said.

She informed that the Government of Canada will continue to support the training program for Ukrainian police officers and the development of the Patrol Police Academy, help implement the principles of close cooperation between the police and communities, and develop a new approach to young offenders.

As Ukrinform reported, Canada will provide USD 2 million over three years to support the National Police of Ukraine.
