NBU opens special account to raise funds for Ukraine’s Armed Forces

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has approved a decision to open a special fundraising account to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The relevant announcement was released by the NBU press center, Ukrinform reports.

The central bank’s decision comes after the Ukrainian government imposed martial law throughout Ukraine in response to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko announced the opening of this special account in his video address on February 24.

The central bank explained that the account accepts multiple currencies. It has been established and opened to receive transfers from international partners and donors in both foreign currency (U.S. dollars, euros, UK pounds) and hryvnias.

As reported, the head of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, announced the start of a special military operation in Donbas. At around 04:00, on February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine and launched a war.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved President Volodymyr Zelensky's decree on the imposition of martial law throughout Ukraine.
