Main goal of Russia’s special operation is to enter Kyiv, eliminate Ukraine’s leadership – Podoliak
The main goal of Russia’s special operation is to enter Kyiv city and eliminate Ukraine’s leadership.
Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, said this at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"The main, fundamental scenario of the Russian special operation is clear. The only goal is to enter Kyiv and destroy the country's leadership, eliminate President Volodymyr Zelensky," Podoliak said.
According to him, that is why Kyiv is under so much pressure now. Despite this, Podoliak stressed that President Zelensky remains in Kyiv, "because he has to show what the firmness of the Ukrainian people is."
As reported, the head of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, announced the start of a special military operation in Donbas. In the early hours of Thursday, February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine and launched a war.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved a presidential decree on the imposition of martial law throughout Ukraine.
