Governments of Germany, Hungary, Italy have disgraced themselves - Tusk

The governments of countries that have spoken out against severe sanctions against Russia, including its exclusion from the SWIFT international payment system, have disgraced themselves.

The leader of the European People's Party, former European Council President Donald Tusk, wrote about this on Twitter, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"In this war everything is real: Putin’s madness and cruelty, Ukrainian victims, bombs falling on Kyiv. Only your sanctions are pretended. Those EU governments, which blocked tough decisions (i.e. Germany, Hungary, Italy) have disgraced themselves," Tusk wrote.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said on Thursday, February 24, that there are EU countries, including Germany, Italy, Hungary and Cyprus, that are still hesitant to disconnect Russia from SWIFT.

On February 24, Russia launched missile strikes against Ukraine and started the war. Martial law has been imposed throughout Ukraine.
