Ukrainian troops control Kyiv – President's Office

The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, is completely controlled by Ukrainian troops, and all reports about the possible encirclement of the city by the Russian army are false.

Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, told this to the media, Ukrinform reports.

"Many media outlets are spreading a new fake that Kyiv is allegedly encircled by Russian troops. Russians can only dream of this. Kyiv is completely controlled by Ukrainian troops. Entry to Kyiv is possible. The confrontation continues in some suburbs, there was heavy fighting. But we will not give away the capital. This is our capital. This is our country," he said.

Podoliak stressed that there is no place for the Russian military in Ukraine. "They have to leave our country and take with them thousands of corpses of their soldiers, most of whom are just rotting in the fields. We can't even count and collect them, because the fighting is going on in many places," he added.

Podoliak noted that the Russians will not cover up this reality with their fakes.

Earlier reports said that Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko allegedly told in an interview with foreign media that Kyiv was surrounded and evacuation was impossible. Klitschko said later it was a fake.
