Zelensky calls on Scholz to shut down skies over Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelensky called on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to close the skies over Ukraine and stressed the importance of accelerating decision-making on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.
This was discussed in a phone call on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports with reference to Zelensky’s Twitter page.
"Had a phone conversation with Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Spoke about Russia's shelling of residential neighborhoods in Ukrainian cities during peace talks. Emphasized the need to close the sky over Ukraine. The work on Ukraine's accession to the EU needs to be accelerated," Zelensky tweeted.
As reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for Ukraine's membership in the European Union on February 28. It has already been delivered to and officially registered in Brussels.
On February 24, on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, Russia launched a war with Ukraine. For the sixth day in a row, Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure, while their missiles are aimed at apartment blocks.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
