Zelensky urges Jews not to keep silence after missile hits Babyn Yar
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Jews around the world to respond to a missile strike on the territory of the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Complex in Kyiv.
He said this in his video address, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“How can one choose such a place as a missile target? You are killing victims of the Holocaust for the second time. During the Soviet era, a shopping center and sports club, outbuildings, and a park was built there to erase the true history of the Babyn Yar. Why was it bombed? That is beyond humanity. Such a missile strike shows that for many people in Russia, our Kyiv is an absolutely foreign place. They know nothing about our capital, about our history, but they have an order - to wipe off our history, to wipe off our country, to wipe off all of us," Zelensky said.
He stressed that the enemy is very cruel. In the evening, Russians bombed Ukrainians in Kyiv and launched a powerful missile strike on the Babyn Yar, “although the whole world promises, constantly promises ‘Never again”.
“For any normal person who knows our history, world history, the Babyn Yar is a special part of Kyiv, a special part of Europe, a place of prayer, a place of remembrance for hundreds of thousands of people who were killed on these slopes,” the Head of State added.
As Ukrinform reported, a Russian missile, launched on Kyiv’s main television tower, hit Babyn Yar.
As reported, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure. Missiles hit residential buildings.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
Ukraine officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation with the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
