Belarusian army still not directly involved in war, but Russian warplanes taking off from Belarus airfields - Danilov
At the moment, Belarusian army is not directly involved in the war unleashed by Russia, but military helicopters and warplanes are taking off from Belarus to strike the Ukraine territory.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, made the relevant statement on the Rada TV channel, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Today we are not directly observing Belarusian troops on our territory, but we understand that they are still preparing. The only thing we can say today is that it is from the bases on Belarus territory that helicopters and warplanes are taking off to fly into our territory. This is a very dangerous situation for us… As of today this is not being directly observed, but it may happen at any time, because these troops (Belarusian - ed.) are ready, pretty much being on full combat alert,” said the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on February 24, on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, Russia started a war with Ukraine. For the seventh day in a row, Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities and its missiles have been hitting residential blocks.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informed that Belarus had brought its Armed Forces into combat readiness and amassed them as close as possible to the state border of Ukraine.
