Russian Navy already fired on five civil ships – Odesa Regional Administration
Since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Navy has fired on five civil ships.
The relevant statement was made by Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Maksym Marchenko on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Since the Russian invasion started, the aggressor state’s fleet has already fired on five civil ships. One of them was drowned, and the other one, loaded with 600 tonnes of diesel fuel, has been on fire for several days now, and invaders do not allow us to extinguish it,” Marchenko told.
In his words, the rescued crew of the dry cargo ship HELT, which sank after being fired on by the Russian Navy, was transported to Chornomorsk Port. All six crew members received primary medical assistance.
According to Marchenko, the rescue operation was carried out despite the Russian military threatened the rescue team with firing. The dry cargo ship HELT is owned by a Baltic company and flying the flag of Panama.
A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, targeting residential houses with missile strikes.
