Energoatom: Russian shells hit Zaporizhzhia NPP
Russian invaders continue to shell Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and have already hit one of power units.
The relevant statement was made by Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
As a result of shelling, Zaporizhzhia NPP is now on fire.
According to Energoatom, firefighters cannot start to extinguish fire, as Russian invaders are shooting close.
The most absurd thing is that “currently, the wind is blowing towards southeastern Ukraine and large Russian cities, Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar”, Energoatom added.
According to Zaporizhzhia NPP Spokesperson Andrii Tuz, power unit 1 of Zaporizhzhia NPP was hit. He called on Russian invaders to stop.
Energoatom has warned the global community that such shelling is ‘a violation of the nuclear and radiation safety of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant and may have serious and tragic consequences for the world’.
