Zelensky: We survived the night that could have stopped history of Ukraine and Europe

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the citizens after the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by Russian troops, noting that Ukrainians had survived the night that could have stopped the history of Ukraine and Europe.

"People of Ukraine, we survived the night that could have stopped the history of Ukraine, the history of Europe. Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The largest in Europe. It is as large as six Chornobyl nuclear power stations. Russian tankers knew they were targeting. The point-blank range is an unprecedented terror. There are 15 nuclear power units in Ukraine, and the Russian military completely forgot about the Chornobyl disaster, the world tragedy," Zelensky said in his video address, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As reported, on the night of March 4, Russian invaders fired on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Power Unit 1 was hit, a fire broke out in administrative building.

As of the morning of March 4, the ZNPP site was seized by Russian troops. There is currently no direct contact with the power plant's management. The radiation background is within natural values.
