Zelensky, European Commission head discuss NPP protection, sanctions against Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has stressed that preventing Russia's nuclear terrorism is a common task for Ukraine and Europe.

Zelensky wrote this on his Twitter account, Ukrinform reports.

“Talked to President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Informed about the aggressor's nuclear terrorism. Preventing it is our common task. Discussed strengthening sanctions against Russia. The issue of Ukraine’s membership in the EU was also on the agenda,” Zelensky wrote.

As Ukrinform reported, overnight into March 4, a fire broke out at Zaporizhzhia NPP after it was shelled by Russia’s heavy weapons. There was a hit on the first power unit. The fire was then liquidated.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion.
