About 6,500 people evacuated from Luhansk and Donetsk regions

About 6,500 people have been evacuated from Luhansk and Donetsk regions since Russia launched war against Ukraine.

The State Emergency Service wrote on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"In the period from February 24, 2022, about 5,000 people have been evacuated from the settlements of Luhansk region and about 1,500 people - from the settlements of Donetsk region," the report says.

In particular, on March 4, about 2,500 people were evacuated by train from Lysychansk, Luhansk region, to safe areas.

As Ukrinform reported, representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on March 4 discussed the organization of “green corridors”. Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to the head of the President’s Office, said that about 200,000 people were seeking evacuation from Mariupol, and 20,000 from Volnovakha.
