Russian invaders kill Hostomel Mayor

Russian invaders killed the head of the Hostomel community, Yuri Prilipko, and two of his comrades while distributing humanitarian aid.

The Hostomel Council has confirmed the reports on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"The head of the Hostomel community, Yuriy Ilyich Prylypko, was killed while handing out bread to the hungry and medicine to the sick, comforting the burnt and consoling the desperate. For this, the occupiers shot him dead, along with his comrades-in-arms Ruslan Karpenko and Ivan Zoria," the statement said.

It is noted that Prylypko was not obliged to go face the bullets of the occupiers. Like hundreds of others, he could have sat the attacks out in a cellar, and no one would have blamed him for that. "But people waited for him, they saw hope in him, they believed in him. So he made his choice. He died for the community, he died for Hostomel, he died like a hero. Eternal memory and our gratitude," the Council wrote.

As reported, on March 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the “Hero City” title to six Ukrainian cities and towns, including Hostomel, that are courageously fending off the Russian invaders.
