Near Zaporizhia, Russian tank fires on, crushes mail car, killing two
In Zaporizhia region, the Russian military opened fire on an Ukrposhta mail car, killing two postal service workers who were on their way to deliver pensions to local residents.
That’s according to the Zaporizhia Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports citing its Telegram channel.
"On Saturday, March 5, in Zaporizhia region, Russia’s Kadyrov soldiers manning a tank fired at an Ukrposhta mail car and drove over it. A man and a woman were killed on the spot,” the report reads.
The Ukrposhta employees were on route Orikhovo – Omelnyk – Yehorivka - Novoselivka to deliver pensions and mail. Between the settlements of Yehorivka and Novoselivka, a tank drove out on the motorway in front of them.
“The mail car driver took a little to the right to let military hardware pass. In response, Russian soldiers opened fire on the civilian vehicle from afar and then drove over it,” the officials said.
Currently, the crushed vehicle remains on the scene, on the road between Yehorivka and Novoselivka. Other Ukrposhta employees attempted to retrieve the bodies of their fellow colleagues but they only manage to photograph the scene of the tragedy as the enemy tanks keep massing in the area, posing a direct threat to their lives.
The broken car with the bodies of the dead Ukrposhta employees remained standing in the field. Due to the fighting in this area and the movement of military equipment of the occupiers, the evacuation of the bodies of the dead is currently impossible.
As previously reported, six cities in the Zaporizhia region have been temporarily occupied.
