Blinken: I am utterly convinced that Ukraine will prevail

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said he is sure that Ukraine will prevail and added that the United States and other Western countries would continue to support the Ukrainian people and increase pressure on Russia.

He said this at a joint press conference with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis in Vilnius on Monday, Ukrinform reports.

"We're also seeing the effect of the assistance that we have been able to provide to Ukraine and we're continuing to provide to Ukraine," Blinken said.

At the same time, he stressed that Ukrainians are showing the incredible courage in standing against Russian aggression, adding that from the very beginning Russia had a hugely disproportionate force than Ukraine and has the ability to take horrific actions against civilians.

"We want this to come to a stop as quickly as possible, which is why we will continue to increase pressure on Russia, continue to support Ukraine," Blinken said.

He reiterated that "even if and as Russia might win a battle in Ukraine, that doesn’t mean it’s winning the war and if and as Russia might take a city in Ukraine, that doesn’t mean that it’s taking the hearts and minds of the Ukrainian people."

"It can’t; it won’t. And whether it’s a week, whether it’s a month, whether it’s longer, I am utterly convinced that Ukraine will prevail," Blinken stressed.

The war with Russian invaders has been going on in Ukraine since February 24.
