Russian invaders destroy 19th-century wooden church in Zhytomyr Region

Russian troops have destroyed a 19th-century wooden church in the village of Viazivka, Zhytomyr Region, which is an architectural monument of national importance.

The relevant statement was made by Olha Rutkovska, a member of the Chief Council of the Ukrainian Association for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture, on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The genocide of Ukrainian nation in action. Tonight, in the village of Viazivka, Zhytomyr Region, the Pokrovska (Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God) Church, which was built in 1862, has been cynically destroyed by Russian invaders,” the  report states.

In her words, the wooden church on a stone foundation is an architectural monument of national importance, listed under protection number 108.

A reminder that, on the night of March 7, 2022, the Russian military shelled such cities as Korosten, Ovruch and Malyn in Zhytomyr Region.
