25 buses with over 1,000 evacuees leave Sumy
A total of 25 buses and 6,000 civilian cars have left Sumy and are travelling along a humanitarian corridor.
According to Ukrinform, Deputy Head of the President's Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko reported this on Telegram.
"Also, 6,000 civilian cars with more than 20,000 people are moving along the humanitarian corridor," the statement said.
The evacuation is ongoing.
Earlier reports said that on March 9, from 09:00 to 21:00, a ceasefire regime was to be established for humanitarian evacuation corridors along the following routes: Enerhodar - Zaporizhia, Sumy - Poltava, Izium - Lozova, Mariupol - Zaporizhia, Volnovakha - Pokrovsk, Vorzen, Borodianka, Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel - Kyiv.
The war with Russian invaders has been going on in Ukraine since February 24. They have been bombing Ukrainian cities, destroying social infrastructure and causing a humanitarian catastrophe.
