Civilians evacuated from Izium under Russian shelling
Almost 250 people have been evacuated from the city of Izium in Kharkiv region under Russian shelling.
Deputy Mayor of Izium Volodymyr Matsokin wrote this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"About 250 people were evacuated from Izium. Today they [Russian forces] were shelling using everything they could, with rage... Territorial defense helped take people away, buses were waiting for people outside the city. Territorial defense fighters are real heroes. In fact, there was no ‘green corridor’. Russia has cynically deceived us and the whole world. People are just being held hostage,” the report says.
According to Matsokin, the evacuated residents of the city are already in Sloviansk.
As reported, the previous attempt to evacuate civilians from the city of Izium failed due to the explosions.
