Ukraine opens humanitarian corridors: Vereshchuk names seven routes
Ukraine is opening humanitarian corridors from Mariupol, Volnovakha, Izium, Sumy, Trostianets and Krasnopil and a number of towns around the Ukrainian capital - Bucha, Borodianka, Irpin and Hostomel.
Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said this in a video address, Ukrinform reports.
Vereshchuk said that evacuation from the cities of Trostianets, Krasnopillia and Sumy will be carried out in the direction of Poltava, namely:
Trostianets-Sumy-Holubivka-Vilshany-Nedryhailiv-Korovyntsi-Romky-Andriyashivka-Lokhvytsia-Lubny-Poltava (partly by buses, partly by own vehicles);
Krasnopillia-Verkhnia Syrovatka-Sumy-Holubivka-Vilshana-Nedryhailiv-Korovyntsi-Romny-Andriyashivka-Lokhvytsia-Lubny-Poltava (partly by buses, partly by own vehicles);
Sumy-Holubivka-Vilshana-Nedryhailiv-Korovyntsi-Romny-Andriyashivka-Lokhvytsia-Lubny-Poltava (from Sumy by own vehicles and from Poltava by buses).
In addition, evacuation from Mariupol will be carried out in the direction of Zaporizhia, from Volnovakha to Pokrovsk, and from Izium to Lozova:
Mariupol-Portovske-Manhush -- bypassing Nikolske-Respublika-Rozivka-Bilmak-Polohy-Orikhiv-Zaporizhia with mandatory mine clearance along the entire route;
Volnovakha-Valerianivka-Novoandriyivka-Kyrylivka-Vuhledar-Pokrovsk;
Izium-Mala Komyshuvakha-Barvinkove-Blyzniuky-Lozova.
The official also said that people staying in Bucha, Borodianka, Irpin and Hostomel would be evacuated to Kyiv.
On February 24, Russian President Putin announced the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure, with missiles hitting Ukrainians' homes. Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
