EU provides Ukraine with first EUR 300M in emergency macro-financial assistance
The European Union has provided Ukraine with the first EUR 300 million in emergency macro-financial assistance from a EUR 1.2 billion package.
“Putin’s war exerts brutal military and economic pressure on the brave people of Ukraine. Europe stands firmly by their side. Today we disbursed €300 million in emergency Macro-Financial Assistance to Ukraine. This is the 1st payment of a €1.2 billion package. So more will come,” she wrote.
In turn, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal thanked the EU for the first EUR 300 million of the macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. "Thank you for urgent decisions," he wrote on Twitter.
As Ukrinform reported, the decision to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine was made by the European Parliament and the European Council on February 24, 2022, and then approved by the European Commission on March 1.
