Russian invaders destroying historic center of Kharkiv
Russian invaders continue to strike residential areas in Kharkiv, destroying the city's historic center.
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"The occupiers continue to strike residential areas in Kharkiv, destroying the historic center. The shelling continues in Chuhuiv, Izium, Derhachi. Today the enemy also launched strikes from Iskander missile systems. According to the General Staff, the attack came from Russian territory," he wrote.
He added that Kharkiv is defending for the 19th day. The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not allow the enemy into the city and carry out counter-offensive operations in the region.
Syniehubov asked residents of Kharkiv not to ignore air raid sirens and hide in a bomb shelter.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure, residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
Ukraine filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation with the UN's International Court of Justice in The Hague.
