Over two weeks, enemy fails to capture a single inch of Zaporizhia territory - regional chief
The situation in the Zaporizhia region remains under control as the Ukrainian forces are repelling the enemy.
Oleksandr Starukh, the head of the Zaporizhia Regional Military Administration, said this during a national telethon, Ukrinform reports.
"Zaporizhia is working and fighting. The situation in our country is completely under control. People are preparing to fight back, the military is fighting at the designated frontiers. Over the two weeks, the enemy has not advanced or seized a single meter of Zaporizhia land," the official said.
Commenting on the bombing of the city on March 16, the official noted that the shell hit an infrastructure facility where there were no military forces. At the same time, windows were shattered in two universities nearby.
"The children lived in dorms and they were a bit messed up with those windows. But no one was injured. The aggressor is at war with students," Starukh said.
He also said that the day before, the occupiers fired on a convoy of civilians evacuating from Mariupol. As a result of the enemy attack, one vehicle caught fire and five people were hospitalized, including a child. Near Tokmak, at a checkpoint, a Russian soldier opened fire on a civilian vehicle and a child was injured. A bakery delivery truck was fired at from a tank in the Polohy district.
In addition, due to the firefight in Vasylivka, sewage treatment plants were damaged, some of them were stalled. Reconstruction works are complicated because "there is either shelling or fighting," Starukh said.
