Over 6,600 people evacuated through humanitarian corridors today – Vereshchuk
On March 19, more than 6,600 people from Donetsk, Kyiv and Luhansk regions were evacuated through humanitarian corridors.
Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said this at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Eight out of ten humanitarian corridors were open today. A total of 6,623 people were evacuated,” Vereshchuk said.
In particular, according to her, 4,128 people, including 1,172 children, were evacuated from the city of Mariupol in Donetsk region to the city of Zaporizhzhia.
Almost 500 Mariupol residents were transported from Manhush to Berdiansk by minibuses. Tomorrow morning they will be able to leave for Zaporizhzhia by buses.
In Kyiv region, 500 people were evacuated through humanitarian corridors from the village of Bervytsia to Brovary, 320 people - from the town of Bucha to the village of Belohorodka, 1,000 people - from the village of Bohdanivka to Brovary.
In addition, 160 people left the city of Lysychansk in Luhansk region for Bakhmut, 160 people were evacuated from Severodonetsk to Bakhmut, 45 people - from Rubizhne to Bakhmut, 310 people - from Popasna to Bakhmut.
Vereshchuk noted that humanitarian goods - food and medical supplies - were also delivered to these cities.
As reported, since the humanitarian corridors were established, about 190,000 people have been evacuated from dangerous areas.
On February 24, Russia announced a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
