Tkachenko calls on world cultural community to help free Kherson Drama Theater director

Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko has called on the world cultural community to make every effort to release as soon as possible the director of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater, Oleksandr Knyha, who has been kidnapped this morning by Russian invaders and taken away in an unknown direction.

Tkachenko wrote this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“This morning Russian terrorists in a brutal fascist way kidnapped and took away in an unknown direction Oleksandr Knyha, the director of the Kherson Regional Music and Drama Theater, the deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, the founder of one of the most popular international theatrical festival Melpomene of Tavria. We call on the entire world cultural community to make possible and impossible efforts for his quick release!  The whole world must know about it!” the minister wrote.

As reported by Ukrinform, Mayor of Oleshky Yevhen Ryshchuk said in a video address posted on Facebook that the Russian aggressors kidnapped Oleksandr Knyha, the director general of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater, the president of the international theatrical festival Melpomene of Tavria, the head of the Eurasian Theater Association.
