Evacuation train from Kyiv to Ivano-Frankivsk comes under enemy fire

The evacuation train heading from Ukraine’s capital Kyiv to Ivano-Frankivsk in western Ukraine was fired on in Vasilkiv district, Kyiv region.

That’s according to Oleksandr Kamyshyn, CEO of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine’s national railway operator, Ukrinform reports.

"Three cars had their windows shattered. According to preliminary data, no casualties were reported. Neither the crew nor the passengers were hurt. The crew chief and the whole team acted perfectly," go the statement says.

The enemy is once again targeting railway infrastructure, Kamyshyn said, calling for the international community to close the sky over Ukraine against Russian missiles and bombs. “We will do our work on the ground,” the CEO added.

Since the launch of Russia’s full-blown aggression against Ukraine, JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has transferred 430,000 passengers from the hottest spots across Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin started a new stage of war against Ukraine. Russian troops have been bombing and shelling critical infrastructure and residential neighborhoods.
