The Russian army fired on a bus evacuating people from Lysychansk, the Luhansk region. A total of 1,300 civilians were taken to safety.

The head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Serhiy Haidai, said this in a statement posted on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"The Russian army fired at an evacuation bus carrying people from Lysychansk. About 1,300 people were evacuated from this city today," he wrote, posting a photo of the bus damaged by the shelling.

He noted that it is probably possible to negotiate with the Russians, but it is impossible to believe they will keep their promises.

On February 24, Russian President Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying critical infrastructure, with missiles hitting Ukrainians' homes.
