Zelensky on Kramatorsk shelling: another Russian war crime to be heard at tribunal
A missile strike by Russian troops on a railway station in Kramatorsk should be among the charges at a future tribunal for Russia's crimes against Ukraine.
This was emphasized by President Volodymyr Zelensky in a video address to the nation, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The missile strike on Kramatorsk should be one of the accusations voiced at the tribunal, which will definitely take place. All international forces will be aimed at identifying who gave certain orders, where the missiles were launched from, who transported them, who voiced the order, and how this strike was approved. Accountability is inevitable," Zelensky declared, having emphasized that this is yet another war crime committed by Russia.
According to the Ukrainian leader, Russian propagandists were in such a hurry to shift responsibility for the strike onto Ukrainian forces that they accidentally blamed Russia. In particular, the state-run RIA Novosti agency posted a report about the strike on Kramatorsk as the missiles were still flying.
"The day before, other propagandists spread threats to all those who escaped from Donetsk and Luhansk regions by rail," the President stressed.
The head of state noted that all the world's leading powers have condemned the Russian attack on Kramatorsk, while Ukraine expects a firm, global response to this war crime, as well as to the massacres that the Russians committed in Bucha.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on April 8, Russian forces fired missiles at the Kramatorsk railway station. 38 people died on the spot and 14 more people died in hospitals later in the day, including 5 children. There are currently 109 injured remaining in hospitals.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Russians struck the Kramatorsk railway with the Tochka-U missile.
