Russia continues moving troops to regions bordering Ukraine - General Staff

Russian forces are trying to complete preparations for an offensive operation in eastern Ukraine. The movement of Russian troops to the regions bordering Ukraine continues.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Measures are being taken to regroup, increase the command and control system and logistics of enemy troops. The occupiers are moving battalion tactical groups from the eastern and central military districts to the border areas of Belgorod, Voronezh and Kursk regions," the General Staff wrote.

In the Slobozhanskyi direction, the Russian forces continue to partially block the city of Kharkiv. They do not stop trying to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops in the area of the city of Izium and are checking possible directions for further offensive.

In addition, enemy's efforts to increase forces in the direction of Sloviansk, partially in the direction of Barvinkove, are not ruled out. Hostilities to regain control of the city of Kharkiv may take place.

In the Donetsk and Tavriya directions, the enemy is accumulating its main efforts on taking control of the settlements of Popasna, Rubizhne, Nyzhnie, and Novobakhmutivka. The occupiers do not stop trying to take full control of the city of Mariupol.

Enemy’s attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense and reach the settlements of Severodonetsk, Popasna, Avdiivka and Kurakhove are expected.
