Only joint efforts of Ukraine, Europe and U.S. can stop Putin - Vereshchuk
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk is convinced that only joint efforts of Ukraine, Europe and the United States can stop Russian President Vladimir Putin.
She said this in an interview with an Italian TV channel, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Reintegration.
According to Vereshchuk, “Putin can be stopped by the Ukrainian army, sanctions and negotiations.”
At the same time, she stressed that Ukraine alone will not be able to cope: the participation of European countries and the United States is needed. Severe sanctions, including an oil and gas embargo, are needed.
"The stronger the international isolation and the embargo, the sooner he (Putin - ed.) will sit down at the negotiating table," she said.
The official reminded that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to meet with Putin and discuss the cessation of Russian aggression and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.
At the same time, Vereshchuk noted that Putin intimidates not only Ukraine with weapons, but also other states. "He is the enemy of the whole civilized democratic world! Everyone should understand that," she said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
