Ukrainian troops down $15 million enemy helicopter by firing $100 missile system

In Kharkiv region, Ukrainian defenders used an ordinary Igla portable air defense missile system to down a Russian Ka-52 helicopter worth $15 million.

“At night, enemy helicopters went very low. They circled over our positions, not even allowing us to raise our heads. And an anti-aircraft gunner fired two missiles on them. One, however, hit a heat trap, and the other shot down a Ka-53. It fell. The enemy tried to fly over our positions and fire missiles, but the enemy's attacks were unsuccessful…We did not want to waste a Stinger on them, so the Russian Ka-52 helicopter was shot down with an ordinary Igla,” the Operational Command "East" posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

The soldiers joke that they "shot down a Russian helicopter worth about $15 million by firing a $100 missile system bought under the Soviet rule."

From February 24 to April 17, Ukrainian defenders eliminated about 20,300 Russian invaders, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

In addition, the enemy lost 773 tanks, 2,002 armored personnel vehicles, 376 artillery systems, 127 MLRS, 66 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 165 aircraft, 146 helicopters, 1,471 vehicles, 8 boats / cutters, 76 fuel tanks, 148 UAVs of operational-tactical level, 27 special equipment units, 4 mobile SRBM systems.
