Azov Regiment: Mariupol defenders not to leave Azovstal without arms
Mariupol defenders consider Russia’s proposal to disarm and surrender unacceptable. Against the guarantees of the third party, they are ready to evacuate with small arms, taking the wounded and the bodies of the fallen with them.
The relevant statement was made by Azov Regiment Deputy Commander Captain Sviatoslav Palamar in a video address, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We are ready to evacuate with the support of the third party from Mariupol, with our small arms, to rescue the personnel entrusted to us, to evacuate the wounded, to take the bodies of the fallen and bury them with honors within the territory not controlled by Russia,” Palamar told.
Palamar called on the entire civilized world to join the security guarantees and emphasized that Russia’s proposal to disarm and surrender is unacceptable.
According to Palamar, the command center of Mariupol defenders has talked to Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak and Head of the Ukrainian delegation in peace talks with Russia David Arakhamia today. They expressed readiness to come to Mariupol in order to hold talks with Russia’s representatives, Vladimir Medinsky and Leonid Slutsky, about the evacuation of the military post.
A reminder that, earlier, Commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade Major Serhii Volyna, defending the besieged city of Mariupol, called on the world leaders to help with the evacuation of Mariupol defenders and civilians to the territory of a third country. According to Volyna, more than 500 soldiers are wounded. In addition, hundreds of civilians are hiding from Russian bombs within the Azovstal plant.
