Team Ukraine wins 16 medals at Invictus Games
Team Ukraine has won 16 medals, including five gold, five silver and six bronze medals, at the Invictus Games in The Hague, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
Rodion Sitdikov won the gold medal in the shot put event with a result of 9.46 m. Artem Lukashuk won silver in the long jump with a result of 5.20 m, whereas Ivan Heretsun took bronze with 5.10 m. Oleksii Bobchynets won a bronze medal in the 1,500-meter run with a result of 5:42.50.
Dmytro Afanasiev, Serhii Kalytiuk and Vasyl Stuzhenko won silver in the team archery competition. In the shot put event, Viktor Lehkodukh took gold (7.32m), Rustam Rosul took silver (5.86m), and Serhii Priadka won gold (8.33m).
Anna-Sofia Puzanova, who took part in the competition instead of her captive mother Yulia Paievska, won a bronze medal in archery in the novice category.
Ivan Lepekha won bronze in the 50m freestyle, whereas Andrii Badarak claimed two medals - a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke and a gold medal in the 50m backstroke.
Ukrainians also won four medals in rowing on simulators.
The Invictus Games were held in The Hague from April 16 to 22. Team Ukraine was represented in eight sports.
The Invictus Games are an international Paralympic-style sporting event launched by Britain's Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, in 2014.
The competition is attended by wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.
