Ukrainian border guards in Chernihiv region come under fire from Russian territory
Ukrainian border guards of the Hirsk division of the Chernihiv border detachment came under fire from Russian territory last night, Ukraine's State Border Guard Service has said.
"About ten grenades fired from abroad from an automatic grenade launcher exploded on Ukrainian territory outside the border village of Senkivka," the statement said.
The State Border Guard Service noted that this was the fourth instance of the shelling of Chernihiv region from Russian territory recorded by border guards after Ukraine's defense forces forced the Russian invaders out of the region. Two of the three previous instances of shelling also targeted the area near Senkivka, with mortars used in the previous times.
Ukrainian border guards were not injured in the attack.
On February 24, Russia launched a new phase of its eight-year war against Ukraine - a full-scale offensive. The enemy has been massive shelling and bombing peaceful Ukrainian cities, towns and villages. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Territorial Defense Forces and the entire Ukrainian people are effectively resisting and inflicting heavy losses on Russian troops.
In late March and early April, the Ukrainian army liberated the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions from Russian invaders.
