Russian troops launched a strike on Mykolayiv city at 05:00 on April 23, firing a Kh-35 anti-ship missile from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea.

"The missile attack was launched from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula with a Kh-35 anti-ship missile from the Bal coastal mobile missile system," the press service of the Mykolayiv Regional Military Administration posted on Facebook with reference to the commandant's office of the Mykolayiv defense forces.

According to the commandant's office, this type of missile is obsolete but its technical characteristics allow it to be an inconspicuous target for air defense because of its small size and low altitude. Improper use of such missiles may indicate the depletion of enemy stocks of more modern weapons.

On the morning of April 23, the Russian invaders struck a residential building in Mykolayiv city. As a result of the explosion, a trolleybus power line was damaged, a cafe was destroyed, a grocery store and the office of a private entrepreneur were damaged. Windows in several nearby houses were broken. No people were injured.
