Enemy intensifies attacks along entire former line of contact in Joint Forces Operation Zone
Throughout the day, the military and political situation in Ukraine did not change significantly amid intensified enemy attacks on the former line of demarcation in the zone of the Joint Forces Operation zone.
This was stated by the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovych, who spoke at a briefing on Sunday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Today, the military and political situation around Ukraine has not changed significantly. The enemy’s main efforts continue to focus on trying to get from the city of Izium to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, intensified attacks on the former demarcation line in the JFO zone, which our troops continue to hold," said Arestovych.
He added that the enemy was also trying to storm the cities of Popasna, Rubizhne, and Sieiverodonetsk, but achieved no success.
"Another area where the enemy is massing up forces is Hulyaipole. Throughout the week, the enemy advanced 10 kilometers, but as our defenders have now massed their reserves there, the pace of enemy advance has slowed significantly and our troops are hitting them hard on the areas where personnel and equipment are concentrated, on their control points and ammunition depots," Arestovych added.
He also stressed that the situation in the city of Mariupol remains very difficult as the enemy continues to focus efforts in the area of defense of Ukrainian troops at the Azovstal Plant. The Ukrainian military is defending itself in a very difficult situation, protecting more than a thousand civilians sheltering at the site.
As Ukrinform reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on April 24, in Donetsk and Tavria directions, the enemy is expanding control and air defense systems, firing on Ukrainian positions using mortars, artillery, and MLR systems along the entire line of contact. Operational and tactical warplanes are continuing aerial strikes on the area.
