Russian troops attempt to storm Popasna – General Staff
Russian troops are carrying out storming operations near Popasna, Luhansk Region.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
As of 06:00 a.m., April 25, 2022, the enemy continued to conduct offensive operations within the Eastern Operational Zone in order to defeat the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) group, gain full control over Donetsk Region and Luhansk Region and ensure a land route between these territories and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In the Volyn, Polissia and Siverskyi directions, Russian troops did not take active actions. There were no significant changes in the positions and activity of enemy units guarding the Ukrainian-Belarusian border and the Ukrainian-Russian border.
In the Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian invaders continued shelling such settlements as Kharkiv, Karasivka, Prudianka and Korobochkyne with cannon and rocket artillery systems.
In the Izium-Barvinkove and Izium-Sloviansk directions, the enemy attempted to conduct storming operations but failed. Russian troops were shelling such settlements as Velyka Komyshuvakha, Virnopillia and Nova Dmytrivka.
In the Donetsk and Tavriiskyi directions, the enemy launched artillery strikes on the positions of Ukrainian forces. In Mariupol, Russian troops launched missile and air strikes on the Azovstal plant. Russian invaders are conducting storming operations near Popasna.
In the Southern Bug direction, Russian troops opened fire on the positions of Ukrainian forces near Kniazivka and Mykolaivka.
A reminder that, over the past day, the JFO group has successfully repelled seven enemy attacks, destroying 13 tanks, three artillery systems, 17 armored vehicles, four armored fighting vehicles, three Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles, etc.
