Journalist Maksym Medynskyi killed when defending Ukraine in Kharkiv Region

Maksym Medynskyi, a Ukrainian journalist and lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has been killed within the area of hostilities in Kharkiv Region.

The relevant statement was made by Bolhrad City Council on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Without hesitation, our fellow townsman began to defend Ukraine back in 2014, when Ukraine started to fight for its real independence. This way he performed his military and public duty. No words of comfort will be able to bring him back as a son, husband and father. No words of sympathy to his family will overshadow the pain and despair they feel,” the report states.

Medynskyi was born in Bolhrad, Odesa Region. His father is a military reporter, and his mother, a teacher, also served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Medynskyi graduated from the Institute of Journalism at Kyiv National University and cooperated with diferent media outlets.

Maksym went to war as a volunteer fighter back in 2014. He spent one year completing combat tasks on the front line and four months near Donetsk Airport. As the Russian invasion started in February 2022, Medynskyi went to defend his country again.

Maksym Medynskyi was killed at the age of 33 in a battle with Russian invaders in Kharkiv Region on April 29, 2022.
