US committed to bolster Ukraine’s capacity to counter Russian aggression – Pentagon chief

In a phone call with Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed Ukraine’s evolving battlefield needs.

The relevant statement was made by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Earlier this morning, I spoke with my counterpart,Oleksii Reznikov, to discuss Ukraine’s evolving military requirements. I was sure to reiterate our enduring support for providing Ukraine the capabilities it needs to counter Russian aggression,” Austin wrote.

Austin also updated Reznikov on ongoing coordination between the United States, its Allies and partners on security assistance efforts.

Meanwhile, Reznikov shared his assessment of the situation on the ground in eastern Ukraine.

A reminder that, on May 9, 2022, US President Joe Biden signed into law the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022.
