Russian airstrikes on Mariupol, attempts at assault in Donbas, active recon - war update
The Russian invaders attempted to storm the areas toward several settlements, continued shelling Ukraine’s defense positions, and ran reconnaissance missions, employing UAVs near Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, and Pavlohrad.
That’s according to a war update by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
“In the Kharkiv direction, the main efforts of the enemy were focused on preventing the advance of our troops and the liberation of the territories temporarily held by the Russian occupiers. Throughout the day, the enemy fired on the positions of our troops in the areas of the settlements of Pitomnyk and Ruski Tyshky,” the report reads.
In the Donetsk direction, the occupiers used mortars, artillery, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, and launched missile and bomb airstrikes to destroy fortifications set up by Ukrainian units.
In the Lyman direction, the Russians are trying to capture the area on the right bank of the Siversky Donets River and gain a foothold in the area of the settlement of Oleksandrivka. They carried out assault operations in the direction of the settlement of Novoselivka, albeit unsuccessfully.
In the Sievierodonetsk direction, the enemy continues to storm in the area of the settlement of Voyevodivka, without success.
No significant enemy action was observed in the Sloviansk direction as the Russians’ main efforts were focused on replenishing supplies to increase offensive capabilities. They shelled the areas of settlements along the line of contact and ran air reconnaissance missions using Orlan-10 UAVs.
Near Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Kurakhiv, the Russians are storming the areas in order to improve their tactical positions, while achieving no gains.
In the city of Mariupol, the Russians continued to launch artillery and airstrikes, focusing their efforts on blocking the Ukrainian units in the area of the Azovstal steelworks.
No significant activity was observed in the Volyn and Polissia directions. According to available intelligence, the second stage of the combat readiness check of the Belarus Army units is underway. A scheduled inspection of the alarm system was completed.
The threat of missile and bomb strikes from the Belarusian territory, targeting Ukraine’s infrastructure facilities, prevails.
In the Siversky direction, the Russians are working to enhance protection of the Ukrainian-Russian border in Bryansk and Kursk regions. They also shelled the border areas of Ukraine.
It is likely that the Russians will pursue demonstrative action on this section of the state border of Ukraine and shell border areas from their own territory in order to restrict redeployment of the Ukrainian units to other directions.
Russian occupiers ran air reconnaissance missions using UAVs in the Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, and Pavlohrad districts.
In the South Buh direction, the enemy undertook no significant effort, only holding their ground and focusing on inflicting fire damage to the Ukrainian forces and expanding their e-warfare network.
According to available intelligence, the enemy has built up an air defense system in the western part of the Crimean peninsula.
Russian occupiers continue to suffer losses in almost all directions, the report concludes.
