Four locations available for holding Rada meetings in case Verkhovna Rada building destroyed - Stefanchuk
MPs have four alternative locations for holding sessions in the event that the Verkhovna Rada building, located at 5 Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv, is destroyed in a strike.
This was stated by Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk in an interview with Ukrinform.
"If our parliament building was destroyed, we had two locations in Ukraine where MPs could gather for a meeting. We have also worked out various routes to these locations. In case it wasn’t possible to leave Kyiv, we had two alternative locations in the capital, where it was possible to gather and pass decisions necessary for the Ukrainian people," said the Speaker.
At the same time, Stefanchuk clarified that voting outside the Verkhovna Rada can take place only in one way – by hand. According to him, all necessary documents and protocols were prepared for such cases. "To this end, we would have a counting commission set up. In addition, several sets of office equipment were prepared to accompany the Verkhovna Rada in the process. Everything necessary had been prepared," the Verkhovna Rada Chairman added.
A full-scale war started by the Russian Federation has been going on in Ukraine since February 24. Russia has repeatedly threatened to destroy decision-making centers in Ukraine.
