Already 232 children killed by Russian invaders across Ukraine
Russian troops have killed 232 children and injured at least 427 across Ukraine since the full-scale invasion started on February 24.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office reported the news on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"As of the morning of May 20, more than 659 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation. According to official figures from juvenile prosecutors, 232 children were killed and more than 427 were injured," the statement said.
The figures are not final as work is underway to establish casualties in areas of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
Most children were affected in Donetsk region – 145, Kyiv region – 116, Kharkiv region – 100, Chernihiv region – 68, Kherson region – 48, Luhansk region – 47, Mykolaiv region – 44, Zaporizhzhia region – 28, Sumy region – 17, Kyiv city – 16, and Zhytomyr region – 15.
On May 18, a teenager was killed by a Russian strike on civilian infrastructure in Lyman, the town in Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region.
A total of 1,837 educational institutions have been damaged in bombing and shelling of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Of them, 172 are completely destroyed.
