Russian troops retreat near Sievierodonetsk - Haidai
The Russian army suffered significant losses and was forced to retreat in the area of Sievierodonetsk, Toshkivka and Oskolonivka.
Serhii Haidai, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
He noted that the Russians had been pushed back to their previous positions. Another bridge between Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk was damaged, but the passage between the cities remains.
"However, [Russian invaders] do not abandon attempts to go to the rear of our troops and disrupt logistics supplies to the Luhansk region. The enemy shelled Sievierodonetsk several times, there was heavy shelling at least three times, and street fights broke out in some places. As a result, 14 apartment blocks were damaged. The nearby village of Synetskyi, which locals often call a hamlet, was also seriously shelled," Haidai said.
In addition, destruction was recorded in other settlements of the Luhansk region: nine houses in Hirske, four in Zolote and Lysychansk, 12 in Vrubivka, and two in Orikhove.
According to earlier reports, eight enemy attacks were repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions on May 27. Ukrainian defenders destroyed five tanks, ten armored combat vehicles and four vehicles of the enemy. Air defense units also shot down an Orlan-10 UAV.
