Kuleba names condition under which Belarusian army could join Russian war

The risk of direct participation of Belarus in the war on the side of Russia will grow proportionately to the possible successes of the invasion force on the territory of Ukraine.

This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with LB.ua, Ukrinform reports.

"First of all, Russia is already using Belarusian territory. If we are talking about the Belarusian army, I think that this risk will grow in proportion to the possible successes of the Russian army on the territory of Ukraine. As long as the Belarusian army clearly understands that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are capable of seriously slamming them, they will postpone their action in every possible way. As of now, they are clearly aware of this," the foreign minister said.

Commenting on the current diplomatic contacts with Belarus, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy noted that "these are very, very limited contacts."

"We have an ambassador in Belarus, we have an embassy in Belarus, and they have an embassy in Kyiv. These are the only channels of communication. That is, everything is very dry and official, but if you think that there is a daily mailbox bursting with letters, this isn’t the case," stated the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.

As reported, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, announced on July 3 that Belarus supports Russia and is building a "union state" with the Russian Federation. According to him, a "unified group of armed forces" was created in the union of Belarus and Russia a long time ago, and the participation of Belarus in the "special operation" was determined by him a long time ago.
