Ukrainian troops continue to set conditions for a counteroffensive on the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said this in a Russian offensive campaign assessment for July 6, Ukrinform reports.
Geolocated satellite imagery showed that Ukrainian forces struck Russian positions around the Kherson City International Airport in the Chornobaivka area.
NASA Fire Information for Resource Management (FIRMS) data showed a high number of fires along the administrative border of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, as well as the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Geolocated footage showed Ukrainian and Russian forces engaged in artillery fire near Snihurivka and Andriivka on the Kherson-Mykolaiv region border.
The ISW said that on July 5, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian ammunition depot in Kherson's railway station.
Meanwhile, Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in northwestern Kherson region and are continuing to fire artillery throughout the Southern Axis to repel Ukrainian counteroffensives.
